Army No. 1 Band

On Thursday, the 8th of March, Ms. Ryan organised to have the Army no.1 Band visit Mount Anville to perform an educational concert for the Orchestra, 1st years and 1st - 5th year Music students.

The band, alongside their conductor Captain John Carpenter, was made up of wind, brass and percussion instruments. Captain Carpenter introduced us to the different sections of the band, while various bands men and women demonstrated what their instrument sounded like, the French Horn even played the opening of the William Tell Overture which is a Junior Cert set work!

The band played a number of different pieces such as 'Jurassic Park', 'The Simpsons' and music from 'Star Wars'. A number of students got to play the percussion section for 'Despecito' and we all joined in singing 'Ireland's Call'. For the final piece, Captain Carpenter picked a number of people to conduct the band!

At the end of the concert, the Orchestra went to the Atrium where they provided tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes for the Band. We got to ask them lots of questions and take photos with the bands.

It was a really enjoyable and interesting concert and we loved how interactive it was. We are so appreciative of the time the Band took to come an visit our school.
