Sixth Year Retreat 2017

Sixth Year Retreat 2017

On October 12th, Sixth year students went on an overnight retreat to Avoca Manor, Co. Wicklow. The theme of our retreat was our Sacred Heart Goal of Community. The theme was reflected in the various activities both indoor and outdoor that we participated in. In particular, a highlight of the retreat was our involvement in The Iron Lady challenge. This involved us competing in teams and working together to complete challenges under time pressure. The bonfire experience was a positive one for all. We gathered as a year group singing songs and eating hot dogs at 10.30 pm. Even teachers got involved! Overall, the reflective element of the retreat was most beneficial. Each of us wrote a letter to ourselves or to an individual offering forgiveness or expressing gratitude. The overall experience of spending two days away from our busy school schedule was worthwhile in giving us the opportunity to become more in touch with our inner selves and to bring us closer as a year group. We would like to thank The Avoca Retreat team for guiding us on the retreat and being so accommodating. We would also like to thank our teachers who volunteered their time to be with us on the retreat : Mr Mallon, Mr Egan, Ms Watson and Ms Fitzgerald.
