On the 11th of March 2017, three Mount Anville students took part in the national final of the IAMTA Senior Applied Maths Competition in Portlaoise. The team consisted of two sixth year students, Clodagh Quinn & Kate Williams, and Antiona Huang, a fifth year student. They were the only girls in the national final and were competing as one of the twelve highest scoring teams in the country after a series of regional rounds. The Dublin regional round had taken place the previous week, in which the girls did very well to come second. The final consisted of six rounds of three questions, which included both applied maths problems and more abstract logic questions. After a very difficult competition, the girls were delighted to place in the top six teams in the country, a great achievement!
Thank you to Ms Butler for her help in preparing the girls for the competition, and to Ms Walsh for travelling down to Portlaoise for the competition.
