Camogie - Mount Anville Finish Strong to Overcome Spirited Rosemont

28-January-26

Mount Anville 7 - 8

Rosemont 4 - 3

Mount Anville continued their Minor (U14) championship campaign with an exciting second-round victory over a very strong Rosemont Secondary School side in the Dublin Schools’ Camogie Championship.

The opening half was tightly contested, with both teams trading scores in an intense battle. Mount Anville edged ahead thanks to well-taken goals and went into the break holding a narrow 2–3 to 1–3advantage.

Mount Anville burst into life early in the second half. Annie McAuliffe was deadly from range, firing over two superb points, while Peggy Meehan and Emma McGuane raised green flags to give Mount Anville breathing space. Rosemont refused to go away and struck back with two quick goals of their own, cutting the margin to just two points and putting real pressure on the Mount Anville defence.

When the game was in the balance, Mount Anville’s strength in depth and work rate came to the fore. Scores flowed in the final ten minutes through Annie McAuliffe, Peggy Meehan, Grace Jolly, and Hillary Daly, allowing Mount Anville to pull clear and finish strongly.

There were outstanding individual performances across the field. Annie McAuliffe was exceptional, with accurate shooting from distance throughout, while Lauren Heraty at centre back impressed with her vision, touch, and intelligent use of the ball. Isabel Bailey electrified the attack with a series of brilliant solo runs, while Grace Jolly and Lily Martin battled in midfield with tireless work. At the back, Siobhán Leonard was rock solid, and Ruth Byrne, operating as a third midfielder in the second half, played a crucial role in shutting down a powerful Rosemont midfield.

Substitute Hillary Daly made an instant impact, finding the net shortly after coming on and adding further quality to an already strong Mount Anville performance.

This was a thoroughly deserved win for Mount Anville in a fast-paced, high-quality championship encounter.
