CROSS COUNTRY
On November 16th, many students from Mount Anville competed in the annual cross country race in Blackrock College. Ms Murphy had been training everyone during lunchtime in preparation for the competition and fortunately it was a dry and bright day!
It was a great day out for everyone involved. Mount Anville was well represented by girls in 1st, 2nd and 3rd years who all ran excellently! Girls in 1st year ran a tough 1.5 km and Eimear Maher in 1st year had an outstanding race and won the competition coming in first place overall. Mount Anville also won 1st place out of all schools competing so 1st year girls were all rewarded with medals. This was an amazing result for the new 1st years as this was their first cross country race competing for their school. It’s safe to say they did an excellent job!
2nd year also had an excellent performance in the minor race but unfortunately they narrowly missed out on team medals, coming in fourth place. All of the 2nd years made a great effort and there were amazing results! It’s an understatement to say Ms Murphy was delighted and she awarded all girls with hot chocolate!
It’s no surprise that 3rd year students also ran excellently in their races. All girls walked the coarse and warmed up for their 2.5 km run. Mount Anville achieved great results in the race. Girls competing included Sarah Gaughran, Alice Mcgovern, Aoibhe O’ Neill, Aoife Kilbride, Éabha Coleman, Elena Brophy and Sarah Curtin. The team had great success finishing in 4th place. Sarah Gaughran also ran so well and as a result came in 3rd place!
Ms Murphy cheered everyone on from the side lines and congratulated them after the race. It was a very enjoyable day and a great practice for East Leinsters in a few weeks.
