After winning an incredible 33 individual medals and seven relay accolades in the East Leinster ‘A’ Athletics Championships, yesterday it was the turn of the ‘B’ squad. Once again, our students excelled, with multiple medals returning to Mount Anville.
In the minor category on the track, Chloe Cooper was 1st in the 75m Hurdles with Evie Burke 3rd, Evelyn O’Rourke was 3rd in the 100m and the relay team of Evelyn O’ Rourke, Mia Downey, Ariana Dunne, and Juliet Hill was 3rd. On the field, Ciara Kerr was 2nd in the high jump, with Charlotte Xia in 3rd, Alicia Cotterall was 3rd in the shot put and Ciara Kerr picked up her second medal of the day finishing 3rd in the long jump.
In the junior age category on the track, Alannah Larkin was 1st in the 75m hurdles with Lisa Holmes in 2nd, Georgia Callan was 2nd in the 100m, and the relay team of Georgia Callan, Olivia Lombard, Nina Sheehan, and Philippa Coakley was 2nd while the relay team of Sorsha McGauran, Amy Lavin, Maggie McGill, and Rachel Corcoran was 3rd. On the field, Sorsha McGauran was 1st in the high jump with Farrah White in 2nd and Nicole Barry was 2nd in the shot put with Mia Browne in 3rd. Amelia O’Neill claimed gold in the long jump.
In the Senior age category on the track, Mount Anville had a 1, 2, 3 in the 80m hurdles with Ciara Dowling followed home by Danni Mannion and Sarah Stewart. In the 100m, Grace Curran claimed silver. In the relay, Mount Anville claimed gold and bronze with the team of Danni Mannion, Susie Tarpey, Harriet Murphy, and Kate Madden claiming victory while the team of Amelia O’Neill, Farrah White, Amy English, and Aimee Rose O’Donnell came 3rd. On the field, Kate Cormican won the high jump, with Susie Tarpey in 2nd. In the long jump, Ellen O’Donovan claimed silver, while Emily Costello was awarded bronze.
