The Mount Anville Minor girls stepped onto the field for their first match of the season, making the short journey to neighbours Choláiste Íosagáin. Over forty Mount Anville students took part on the day, contributing to a hugely impressive turnout of over one hundred players across both schools.
The fixture was played as a series of four quarters, allowing all players valuable game time. Both teams showed great enthusiasm and skill, with the match ultimately finishing in a draw after a competitive and well-fought contest.
The teams will meet again next week for a similar fixture, providing another opportunity for development and teamwork, before championship football begins in the coming weeks.
There were several standout performances for Mount Anville, including Alice Brosnan, Erin Bowen, Isobel Ballie, Grace Jolley, Ruth Byrne, Lily Martin, Sophie Porcu, Emma McGuane and Maia Russell. Erika O’Mahony was particularly impressive in front of goal, finding the net on three occasions.
