On Friday the 8th of December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, five 6th year students were consecrated as Children of Mary. Students, staff, and the wider school community were invited to celebrate mass and take part in the torch-lit procession. The five girls, Lydia Ryan, Amelia Stanley, Clodagh Keane, Nicola Johnson and Ailbhe Kenny, had prepared for the day under the guidance of Ms.Boland, Mr.Mallon and Ms.Fitzgerald. Claude had arranged the altar beautifully, and Ms.Minnock led the choir. The girls made a promise to try to live their lives as Mary did, and presented Mary with a Lily. Once consecrated, they processed around the church, to the choir’s rendition of ‘Immaculata’. Ms.Bourden presented the girls with medals, and invited the guests for mince pies and tea once the Christmas tree had been lit, to the sounds of the 6th year’s carols.
