Mount Anville has a vibrant and busy Art department.
Junior Cycle
The mission of the Art department is the learning and practice of the various stages and processes of Art, Craft and Design. It aims to develop the student in holistic way encouraging and nurturing creativity, self-expression, social awareness, initiative, perseverance, sensibility and self-reliance.
Art is offered as an option for Junior Cycle in Mount Anville. The course offers the student a broad range of skills for example: drawing, painting, graphic design, printmaking, sculpture, modelling, construction, pottery, ceramics, animation, photography and computer graphics. In third year, Junior cycle students studying Art will complete a personal project beginning in October and ending in May (75%). They also sit a practical exam in May which consists of drawing from found objects and human forms(25%).
Senior Cycle
Art is offered as an option for Senior cycle. It is a broad course offering multiple opportunities to express artistic abilities through a range of disciplines. The course consist of four sections: Craft/Design, Still Life/Imaginative Composition, Life Drawing(62.5%) and Art History(37.5%).
Please Note: The new syllabus for Senior cycle has been revised by NCCA. A date has not yet been given for implementation but it is expected in the near future.
