Extra Curriculum - Debating

Debating allows our students to become articulate and dynamic speakers. It gives them the chance to think about and discuss a wide variety of issues, develop a coherentargument and argue their point!

The ability to speak in front of an audience is such an important life skill and we offer them the opportunity to do this on a weekly basis. Every Monday lunchtime we host an in-housedebate and we participate in national competitions at both senior and junior level. We are involved in the followingcompetitions:Concern, UCD L&H Society, UCD Junior Schools competition, Leinster Schools Competition, Oxford Schools competition and The Soroptimist Society PublicSpeaking Competition. We have also been very successful in French, Spanish and Irish debating competitions on a national level.

Debating and public speaking offers our students a platform to hone their skills and to express themselves. It's fun, it's entertaining and it's a great way to make new friends and to engage in important issues. All are welcome to join debating- those who want to voicetheir opinion or those who just wantto listen. Find your voice- do debating!
