Other Information
TY Dinner Preparations As outlined at the information evening, and in the TY prospectus, the TY dinner is a pivotal event of the TY calendar, taking place on November 28th. Students will select a theme they have chosen themselves as a year group, and start working towards designing the night around this central motif.
Students will select a charity themselves for whom we will raise funds. Students are asked to present, should they wish, on a chosen charity and we will anonymously vote for a worthy cause.
Students will be able to volunteer for certain committees for the TY dinner next week e.g. finance, marketing, entertainment, fundraising, PR etc.
Students will also be asked to approach local businesses to assist in fundraising, and to offer up prizes for the raffle held on the night. Should any parent or guardian have any contacts or resources available to assist in offering prizes or support on the night, it would be most appreciated.
More information will be available as we approach the event, and on return from mid-term.
TY Jumpers TY Jumpers have arrived in Dublin and I hope to have them available for students next week. These jumpers are to be worn on TY activities only. They do not replace the school jumper, and I would ask students not to wear them at extra-curricular activities in case they are soiled and thus can not be used for their true purpose - to identify students at TY events.
Hope Foundation Next week sees TYs organise a “Day of Hope” on Wednesday to raise money for the Hope Foundation. Students are asked to bring in €2 and to assist in organising for each year group to write “a message of hope” to be placed in a capsule in the Chapel. Furthermore, Friday sees a whole school assembly to organise the annual “Shoebox” appeal. TYs should work on their shoebox over the week and demonstrate social awareness by contributing to those less fortunate. A little effort can generate a lot of hope.
TY European Trip Ms. Walsh has asked me to remind you that the deadline for payment of the deposit for the trip to Athens in May is Thursday 17th October. There is also a slighty updated itinerary attached to the main email with slighty different dates. Please take note.
