  • Designated students traveling to Royal Hospital

Wed May 8th

  • Students traveling to Rathfarnham Castle for a guided tour.
  • Class ends for students at 11:50. Students to make their own way to Rathfarnham Castle, with tour commencing at 14:00, finishing at 14:45, and students to make their own way home from location.
  • Opening Night of Back to the 80s Musical with St. Michael’s College. Doors from 19:00. Thursday May 9th
  • Final night of Back to the 80s Musical with St. Michael’s College. Doors from 19:00.

Friday May 10th

  • Designated students traveling to Capuchin Day Centre.
  • Students start the day at 11:10, and finish the school day as normal.
  • Students to return to Mount Anville Sports Hall for 8pm for Darkness Into Light
  • Students will partake in activities, have food in the hall (pizza being organised by DIL student committee with roughly €3 per person being the price), watch a film, then sleep.
  • MTA TY leaves the school circa 03:15 by coach to Phoenix Park to take part in DIL.
  • Students should be available for collection in Mount Anville for roughly 6am (traffic dependant, time for completion of race etc)

End of Year Assessment

As per the TY plan delivered to all students at the exposition of the year, students will be assessed for TY in the following ways:

  • Exams in Gaeilge, English, and Maths will take place on May 13th.
    • Maths 09:00-10:30 o Break in Atrium o English 11:10-12:40 o Lunch in Atrium o Irish 14:00-15:30
    • Home
  • A formal interview of the Transition Year student will take place the morning of Tues, 14th May. Students will be interviewed by a member of the TY Core Team or Senior Management and offers a chance for students to reflect on their personal, social, academic and vocational experiences in TY. Students should prepare answers to the following questions:
    • How have you developed personally/academically/socially as an individual?
    • How have you used your social awareness programmes or work experience programmes to grow as an individual? o How have any initiatives of which you have been part (SVP etc) assisted in your development as an individual?
    • What were your personal highlights as a student in the Mount Anville TY programme?
    • Which of the 5 goals of the Sacred Heart do you feel best characterises your time in TY Mount Anville, and illustrate with examples from your own experience.
  • Tues 14th May @ 11:10, students of Modern Languages will complete a classroom based assessment in line with continuous assessment ongoing since the start of the year.
  • E-portfolios are to be completed for Wed 15th May. Students need to complete at least 7 blogs online in the Schoology group, with 100 words minimum per blog entry.
  • Attendance and Punctuality will feature as assessment criteria.

Gaisce

Many thanks to all those who have returned form pertaining to Gaisce. However, please note the following:

  • There are students who still have not completed payment for the Gaisce programme; please log on to complete payment to complete the programme.
  • Some students have not returned forms, and thus I can not complete their award.
  • Those students who only registered from November on are incapable of officially completing the programme until 26 weeks have elapsed on the system, regardless of if work was completed for Gaisce before registration.
  • It takes 10 working days for Gaisce to process awards and to send out the paraphernalia relating to completing the programme.
  • We will recognise all those who have completed Gaisce on their graduation night. Those who have yet to receive a physical award will be granted their certs and prizes at a ceremony in September.

School Photographs

School photographs will take place Tues 14th and Wed 15th May. TY students who were unavailable for certain photos owing to be on placement on work experience will be caught up during these days. Please note, that owing to an extremely tight schedule for photos, in line with weather considerations, that punctuality, and above all else, flexibility, is needed from our TY students. Where interviews/exams are taking place, all efforts will be made to avoid clashes.

16th May – Interhouse athletics competitions and Sports’ Day

17th May – TY Graduation

20th May – TY Excursion (to be fully confirmed but will be all day activity, no classes)

21st May – TY Activity pertaining to Sustainability, no classes

22nd May – Prize Day, TYS off school

23rd May – Barista course for those signed up, no school for other TYs owing to school exams

24th May – No school for TYs owing to summer exams.

26th May – 30th – Trip to Krakow
